The Claremont-Cottesloe PCYC Basketball Club has approximately 30 teams each year and has been involved in the Perry Lakes Hawks Basketball Association Junior Competition for many years. 

The season commences in March and finishes in September with breaks over the April and July school holidays.  Games are played on Saturdays at Perry Lakes Stadium.

The Club invites all interested players from Miniball (6 year olds) to Under 20’s to register and participate in the 2010 season.  The Club has teams in all levels so players of all levels are welcome.

Registration & Payment

Fees for this season are:

1st child	$140

3rd+ child	$120

Players registration has been extended and will now close on Monday 1st March 2010. Player registration will NOT be accepted at our tryouts and places can only be guaranteed to people who have registered by the closing date.

Grading Sessions

All players must attend the grading/training sessions at Perry Lakes Stadium.  These grading and training sessions are used to place players of similar abilities in teams for the season.

Coaches Clinic

There will be two coaches clinics held this year. One for miniballers and U12s and a separate clinic for U14 and up. The dates for these clinics will be advised shortly.

Perry Lakes have changed the birthday cutoff date to align with the school intake cutoff.

Modified Rules

Our miniballers play basketball with a modified set of rules. The rings are lowered to 8foot 6inches, they play with a size 5 ball and there are special rules regarding when and where defense is allowed. Miniballers are divided into up to 6 divisions based ofn the skill and experience of the teams. We also don't maintain a ladder but we do keep score. There are usually several -regradings thoughout the season to keep the teams playing against teams of similar ability. The idea behind all this is to give the kids an easier introduction into the sport, without the pressure of "qualifying" for finals - we want them to have fun and love the sport!

Under 12s move to full height rings and the restrictions regarding defense are removed. Our U12 competition doesn't play finals as this allows us greater flexibility in moving teams between divisions as the season progresses.

In Under 14s we introduce finals.

In Under 16s and up we all zone defense to be played.

Compeition Dates

Our season starts with 2 rounds of grading games at the end of Term 1. This gives us a chance to look at the teams in all age groupings and make adjustments where they are needed. This year the first round of grading will be 20th March. After these two grading rounds we break for the school holidays and then return in the 1st week of term 2. All grades play 18 rounds of competition with U14s and up playing 2 weeks of finals at the competition of those 18 rounds.

Coaches & Managers: Please consider this role as the Club always welcomes new coaches and managers!

Uniforms: Tops will be issued at the Clare-Cott Club room at Perry Lakes Stadium 30 minutes prior to game time on the day of the first game.  All players will need to purchase black airflow shorts as part of their uniform.
